The basics

ACP (aluminium composite panel) must be fire-retardant (FR) grade on buildings.
Exterior HPL panels resist UV and rain.
Stone and heavy tile cladding need mechanical clamps above low heights.

Quality checks before you accept delivery

ACP must be FR-grade with a fire test certificate.
Aluminium framing, not plain MS, behind panels.
Check coating type (PVDF/FEVE) and colour warranty.
Panel joints should be straight and evenly spaced.
Inspect anchors and frame before panels close over them.
Sealant joints should be continuous and tooled smooth.

Pro tips

Leave a ventilated gap behind cladding so walls breathe.
Seal joints with weather silicone and add drip edges above windows.
Plan AC outdoor units and pipes into the elevation design.
Wash the facade yearly to keep the coating warranty valid.
Inspect sealants after every few monsoons.

Mistakes to avoid

Non-FR ACP — a serious fire risk.
Gluing heavy stone high up without clamps.
Cladding over damp walls, trapping moisture.
Indoor-grade panels or adhesives used outside.
Blocking weep holes and drainage paths.

Where you can save

Clad one bay or the front band, and use textured exterior paint elsewhere.
Clay cladding tiles last decades without repainting.
